It didn't hurt at first. [they have sharp knives in this house. Under the towel is more blood than she cares to think about, and a deep slice in her palm that goes off along the side of her wrist too.]

That is usually because the injury is so sudden that it takes some time for the brain to process it, or so I've read. It's good that you called for a healer; a cut like this could be dangerous if the bleeding is not stopped quickly.
