A. Mayfield High School, outside on the field

[ Luna can be found wearing an incredibly awful electric blue jumper, holding wadded up newspapers in both of her hands and making arm motions akin to an airline pilot directing planes. When she gets tired of that she is attempting somersaults and cartwheels - and doing quite lovely at them, actually.

[Ruri quietly sits and watches Luna go through these actions with her usual deadpan look, occasionally looking at the sky]

"Are you practicing waving in some sort of flying craft?"

[ she stops mid cartwheel and flops over ]

I believe it is called cheerleading.

[ she stares at her ]

I haven't gotten around to the cheering part yet, I'm afraid.

[She stares back, deadpan stare is Ruri's specialty]

"Oh... I've never heard of that. Is it fun?"

So far it seems to be rather painful.

Would you like to try it with me?

[ she offers a wadded up paper ]

"Ok. What do I do?"

[She stands up and takes the wadded paper]

I think it requires you believing you are a muggle contraption called a windmill.

[ Luna moves her arms in wide, gaping circles ]

"What is a muggle? Actually... Wait a second..."

[She raises her hand and a holographic screen appears in front of her, her hair going all 0G]

"Omoikane. What is a muggle, and what does it have to do with cheerleading?"

[The screen flickers for a second, then shows cheer leaders drinking out of mugs]

"Hrm...."

[ Luna stares at that with wide-eyed fascination ]

How lovely!

Do you know what they are drinking? Perhaps that has been the missing component.

"Hrm...

[She waves her arms a bit and the screen splits to 2, then 4 then 8, then 16 and they all zoom in on the mugs]

"These three are drinking hot chocolate. That one is drinking coffee. 6 of them are unknown... Another 4 are drinking some form of herb tea. The last two just seem to be holding the mugs. Still. I haven't even indexed windmills. In fact, Omoikane doesn't seem to understand how mugs and windmills interact in this context."

...I am beginning to think cheerleading is an awful lot more complicated than I had initially believed.

"Well... The actual act just seems to be jumping around a lot with the pom poms in tight clothes. How odd..."

[She closes several of the windows and lets 3 of them display cheering routines]

"I'm not sure I could do that though."

[ Luna nods sagely in agreement ]

Yes, that is why I made these.

[ shows the crumpled newspapers ]

But the outfits seemed rather uncomfortable, so I wore my favourite jumper instead.

"I think the jumper makes more sense. You should be comfortable. I just think I'd hurt myself with all the moving around, I'm not very good at that."

Oh, don't worry. I have caused myself quite a lot of injuries learning!

[hontobakabaka]

"Oh, no, its not that. Its more of a medical condition. My nanomachines don't interact well with my respiratory system. Oh. I'm sorry, I've been rude. I'm Ruri."

[She bows]

Nanomachines? That sounds like a fascinating affliction.
