When I was a firefighter back in the '90s, our overreaching government agency OSHA, decided to re-write the vertical rules for firefighters. One of the 'improvements' to our safety would have required us to wear Nomex skivvies. It was justified by saying that any fabric in contact with our bodies must be fire resistant or we would be in unreasonable danger.

When a public hearing was held by OSHA on the subject in somewhere in California, a union delegate was sent from one of the locals (the who, what, where details are long gone from my memory) to bring up a particular question; does the regulation cover undies that cover girl  firefighter’s pleasant parts? And does that include the string that is used to pull her tampax? The hearing kinda fell apart after that question, was adjourned and was never re-scheduled. The proposed reg. died that day.

Now we have this: http://www.prisonplanet.com/sanitary-towel-prompts-tsa-to-grope-sexual-assault-victim.html

Is there anybody left that doesn't think the government is so overreaching as to be laughable?
