With the change in the weather, it seems that the cold months with the frozen rain are drawing closer. As uncomfortable as covered sandals are, is there a place where I will be able to find some?

My goodness, is it so late in the year here? It was summer in Cornwall.

[New person!]

This year is slowly coming to it's end.

Cornwall? I have never heard of such a land before. Is it often summer there?

Ah, how unusual.

As much as it is summer for any place in my country. I live in a village near the Thames in Buckinghamshire, myself. But I was in Cornwall for the summer hols. A marvelous place, really.

Most places that man has made are called marvelous. I doubt yours would be very different.

Is it like this world? All stone and metal?

No, not at all. Hunterscoombe is still very small. There are a lot of small farms and wild areas.

London is a little like it, I suppose. If this place wasn't so ruined. But it is a long trip to get there.

Wild areas?

[Interest pinged.]

Then there is much green and animals around? Do they do well against the humans?

Much as any of the creatures of the Wild deal with humans. But not so long ago the whole area was a great forest. And the land remembers. Herne, they say, still haunts his oak and the Old Ways still cross the land.

[And now his interest is really pinged. He loves the stories of this land where London is.]

Herne? Who is Herne? Is he, what is the word, a faerie? I hear there are many of those on this island that holds the city of London.

Some might call him that. He is like a tall man, horned, and he has the eyes of a great bird. Every year, on twelfth night, he leads the Wild Hunt.

Wild Hunt?

...he sounds more a demon but I suppose those of the other world do not look as human as they sometimes act.

He is of the Wild Magic. [Will says simply.] They have little care for the affairs of humans. They are creatures of magic and nature and emotion.

A great hunt that ranges across the sky to every corner of the world, chasing and harrying any prey that they find.
