[Wait. That's Francis inside a vending machine. Suddenly, there's some fumbling with the Gear before Merlin manages to pick it up.]

Wha--Francis???

[France seems to be yelling something at Merlin. Possibly "help me" or "get help" or "this is like the time I got stuck in an airplane bathroom trying to join the mile high club" or something like that. You know, the usual.]

[Somehow, it's even harder to believe what he's seeing in person. He'll just be circling around, trying not to laugh.]

Francis...I don't even want to know how you get yourself into these situations.

[Merlin leans in, examining the locked door and whispers, eyes flashing gold.] Tospringe.

[The door springs open, smacking right into Merlin's ready palm.] Lucky for you, Francis, I got my magic back earlier.

[France would be screaming at you for finding amusement in this if it wasn't for the fact that he's too busy gawking at what Merlin just did.]

[He points at Merlin, to the vending machine (which he's still standing in), at Merlin again vaguely.]

[Oh...this is good. Excuse him, he'll just be grinning and trying not to be too amused by Francis' reaction.]

Stand there much longer, and I'm going to think you want to stay in the machine.

[What? No! No no no no no--France is scrambling out of that accursed thing right now. He shivers slightly, brushing himself off and still completely pumped with adrenaline, staring at Merlin with huge eyes.]

What was that?!

Magic! [Yeah, can't really keep up the innocent, smug look when he's this giddy. He grabs Francis and laughs.]

I got my magic back! And I didn't forget my promise to you, either!

[of_france]

[France opens his mouth, closes it, opens it again as he hugs Merlin, a look of slightly frentic happiness and amazement on his face.]

You're a wizard, Merlin!

That's warlock to you, Francis. [but he's too busy laughing and returning to the hug to really care.]

I promised you I'd show you my magic, didn't I? [Merlin pulls back, rubbing his hands together like an eager puppy.] Well, come on. What do you want to see?

[France is shivering slightly as his adrenaline levels calm down (and it is pretty cold out), but his entire attention is enraptured by Merlin.]

[Well, there's something else he can do. Noticing Francis' shivering, Merlin simply sends his coat over to the nation, draping it over his friend's shoulder.]

[France laughs merrily, still watching in wonder as Merlin moves and gives him the coat, huddling in it gratefully.]

Well, you always are rather a lot older in the legends.
