liverpool roundup.

- Jerzy's such a dork sometimes. I'm so glad they found his stuff.

- Paul Tomkins's tribute to Didi. It's a lot less sentimental than what I wrote last night, but then again, Paul has seen him play from the start, when the kaiser wasn't quite as surefooted as he is now. But yeah, this part made my day:

He was incredible in tight situations, always finding a route out for the ball, even if three opponents hemmed him in. He could keep the ball under such tight control, and then release it at the right moment. Of course, there was also his infamous routine to win a free-kick - amble in no apparent direction, then suddenly slow up and draw the foul as the opponent clattered into him. Priceless.

Oh Didi. He did everything with a straight face, but I have to wonder if he wasn't laughing his ass off inside.

- And hey, after mourning the exiting legends, why not celebrate the new arrivals? Paletta (we've got an Argie, we've got an Argie, even though he's a bit sketch and a bit young, we've still got an Argie) gave his first interview with .tv today:

The manager has said you're a player in the Jamie Carragher mould - what do you know about Carra?

I know he's a fantastic player who is well liked by the supporters. I'll be watching him closely in training because I'm sure he's a player I can learn a lot from. I want to emulate what he has achieved and have that same bond with the fans.

Which other players are you familiar with at Liverpool?

Obviously Steven Gerrard is well known all over the world because he is such a great player. Sami Hyypia is also a player I admire greatly because he has done such a good job at the top level for so many years. The thing I have noticed during my first week at the club is that the team spirit here is brilliant and I'm sure that's something which is going to stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

Okay, first of all, whoever does the translations is a bit wonky in the head. "Stand us in good stead," indeed! But anyway, I do like that he pays tribute to both of the central defenders. From what I've seen of him at Banfield, he's not quite Carra, but not really Sami either. He's a bit quicker than both, which will be good for the club if he can also hone his technical skills.

- To top it all off, how fucking excited am I to see these training pictures. I do approve of the new sleeveless training kits, oh yes. And this was the best part, for me at least:

HI MINI-LAD. Mmm, if there's one thing I'm most excited about this season, it's perhaps finally getting to see Paul Anderson play for the first team.
