So, I'm not sure if you'll remember how I snagged a secondment admin position, but I finally have my start date....
July 25th
That's right, a full five (possibly six, my maths is not up to much) weeks after being awarded the position. The position that ends in October. Pfft!
I'm reading Glen Duncan's The Last Werewolf at the moment. I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone who's easily squicked/morally outraged, but I'm enjoying it. Marlow doesn't have quite the same jaded, louche appeal of the protagonist of I, Lucifer (er... Lucifer), but it's darn readable. Any author who can use the phrase "Reader, I ate him" surely has to be worth a go, right?
Also, I really, really, really want there to be another Newbie Fest... What do you think? Would anyone be up for another very-low-key, no-real-pressure fest? Or maybe something a bit more organised (I have
desigrl now, after all. We might even get a decent banner this time...)
Lastly, I'm thinking about archiving more of my stories at TPP, but am a bit daunted by the queue (and the friendly email that will kindly tell me that they normally only allow x amount of errors, but my 50 billion misplaced commas have be painstakingly highlighted for me, because they feel a bit sorry for me. ) So if anyone with ninja beta skillz is looking for a challenge, I will adore you eternally. And I think the queue admins will buy you chocolate. Yup.
