I haven’t really written much in a long time. These days, if I’ve had a free moment, it’s been spent furiously tackling exchange pieces and - to be honest - I’ve not felt much like writing about Real Life. P has had very little luck on the job front, but started a new job yesterday for a company that makes luxury yachts. Could prove to be interesting. I’m looking forward to there being more than one wage coming in at last as it will give me a bit more freedom to find a slightly less rubbish job.
I’m also toying with the idea of treating myself to a paid journal, when I next get paid . . .
Life’s been a bit messy recently. The good stuff has been very, very good; best friends getting married, seeing family, living in a truly lovely part of the world. The bad stuff has been . . . not horrific, by any standard, but difficult and unceasing. Mostly it revolves around being poor and living in a spare room, which is a reality for so many people that it doesn’t feel right to whine about it, especially given what some of my flist are going through.
One really horrible thing is that P’s best friend (a policeman) was stabbed with a bottle last week, whilst patrolling alone. He’s doing okay, physically, but it’s really left him shaken. The week before that he was held up by a man with a shotgun, who then calmly turned the gun on himself and pulled the trigger. Poor M. P thinks this might well be the end of his police career. I just want to bring M home and feed him until he feels better. The worst part about modern life is how far away everyone is, especially when you want to get to them in a hurry.
Writing wise, my
deeply_horrible piece is finished. I’m not sure it answers the prompt or the exchange criteria, but it’s finished and therefore being ignored until the week it’s due in.
sshg_exchange piece is pretty much done, bar the last chapter, which is playing silly buggers. I made the mistake of trawling through my WIP folder earlier and have just found a story that could be amazing . . . if only I could remember how it was supposed to end . . .
Ooh, and the
sshg_newbies comm is paying dividends! Never have I had the gall to beg so many people for help before, but they’re really coming up trumps. It’s been a fantastic way to meet some really lovely, talented, ridiculously generous people. Bless them.
