6.5 hrs of tattoo later...
...I am still alive! Yes, I celebrated my 30th birthday with a back piece that goes from my sacrum all the way up to the base of my neck and it was an amazing experience, since it was my first tattoo. I'm only mildly masochistic, I promise. After 6.5 hours of mixed sensation ranging from mild prickling to complete numbness and intense burning stabbing pain I drove myself home - which probably wasn't smart - and collapsed to 2 hours of immobile vegetating (which did include, food, water and trying to keep the cats from jumping on me).
I have to go back for another hour or so of shading because we ran out of time (my artist is a mom and had after school pick ups to make) but once its completed I'll post a pic because its awesome! I might post a pic before the final shading because I'm really excited about it. You'll just have to wait and see. Now I just have to figure out how to sleep without rolling on my back due to the sunburn-like after pain I am experiencing. Wish me luck!
