selenesue 1. What is your SCA name? (You don't have to write the full name, just your first name if you want.) - Balthazar van der Brugghe
2. What is your home kingdom? - Caid
3. Have you ever lived in another kingdom? If so, where? - No
4. Do you remember your first SCA event? When/what was it? - Angel's Yule, December 2002
5. Do you have any awards? (You don't have to list them if you don't want) - yes, a few. Award of Arms - 4/2003, Pursuivant - 9/2005, Dolphin, 6/2006, Athena - 9/2006 and a couple other baronial awards.
6. Do you list them after your name in communications like e-mail? - I'm currently the Baronial Herald, so I sign everything as Seraph Pursuivant.
7. Do you have a device? - see above
8. Do you use it? On what? Pretty much only on my LJ when I'm talking SCA stuff. For the longest time I didn't like it, but it's totally growing on me. And yes, I think it's mostly because it translates as a bridge over troubled water... which so fits.
9. Are you on all the kingdom/society lists available to you, or do you avoid them? - I use to be on everything, but I got tired of all the bickering. Now, I'm only on baronial and herald lists.
10. Do you keep your Pennsic/Estrella/Gulf Wars/etc. site tokens? - Mostly the pewter ones, they either hang on my belt or a couple from my rear view mirror.
11. Do you keep the favours you've been given by royalty/friends/SOs, etc.? Do You wear them all? - I don't have anything... I wear the blackwork that Katerina made me of the artichoke... on my velvet bag. And I still were the tam of Selene's colors, from when I was protege'd to her.
12. Do you call your friends by their SCA names even when you're not at an event? - YUP... everyone is in my Cell phone as their SCA name. I swear, I LARP too... So, I hardly know anyone's real name. I'm actually introduced to non-sca people as Balthazar.
13. Do you go out to dinner in garb after an event? - Yup.
14. Do you have all kinds of garb, or do you generally stick to one period? - my wardrobe wanders all over the map, part of the reason why I started out saying I was from Bruges, was because it was a port city. Now that the persona has changed, it still makes sense that I'd have so much variety in my wardrobe.
15. How many interests do you have within the SCA? What's your favourite? - I'm a Jack of All Trades, Master of none... but, I'd have to say Heraldry is my first, Weaving my second and Brewing my third favorite.
16. Do you have an SCA-oriented web site? Nope, don't even have a regular website anymore.
17. Do you maintain a hairstyle that is more period style than modern? How about any other part of your appearance? - No, but for the longest time I always wore something on my head.
18. Do you tell "No $###, there I was" stories? (Admit it.) Do any of them involve well-known SCA people? - I've tried, but I don't think I've been in long enough, however there was the one about the wandering gnome.
19. Authenticity is Fun. Yes or no? Why? - I think it's fun, I don't have the patience for it anymore, but it's nice for those who can do it.
20. Is there one modern thing at events that really bugs you? - I really hate it when people bring fast food to the site and don't try to hide the boxes. The food eats just as well on a platter and the drink in a mug.
Bonus Question! 21. Everyone has a shameful garb/accessory mistake hidden somewhere in their past. What's yours? (We're all friends here, we promise not to laugh. Much.) First event, Angels Yule - I wore a tight fitting polyester purple shirt and a long black tunic, the shirt has been thrown away and the tunic has been turned into a vest, so I can remember that first event. Although, I was always told that my shoes were too nice to be newcomer's garb
