For days I've been positively dazed by the response from the Big Bang posts. I'm amazed, really and I can only say that the experience of taking part in the SPN-J2-Big Bang has been incredible. It's not just that I've gotten to know a couple of people who are plain and simply awesome, but I feel it has also helped me develop my style of drawing. I expected fun - not actual improvement.
So naturally, I'm very excited to see how my next project, the
deancasbigbang, turns out. I managed to snag an outstanding story for the Mini Bang - at the last possible moment but nevertheless ;)
So far I got my first sketch finished and plan to use a technique pointed out to me by
amindaya who linked me to
this tutorial. It's going to be interesting, if nothing else ;)
Apart from that, I partake in something that turns out to be a real challenge for me, namely
spn_summergen. I got some amazing prompts and what did I do? Start writing (yes, you read that right: writing) four different beginnings and ended up using none of them. By now I'm halfway done and extremely insecure about just about everything.
Speaking of writing, I have a lot of very talented writers on my friends list and now I'm curious. How do you write? I used to get an idea, sit down, type away and end up with dozens of half-finished WIPs that regularly disappointed my readers (i.e. Salem). This time, as ego and the need to stick to a deadline force me to actually get something done, I've done a detailed outline of the plot and merely need to write down the mental movie I see while writing. Is it the same for you? Do you see a 'mental film' and then bring the pictures into words? Do you have any particular tricks when you write? Anything in particular that you check after your first draft is finished to keep it from turning into a 'badfic'? The thought of writing badfic as a gift for someone really bothers me *bites lips*
