GRElieved

Well, I wouldn't exactly say I aced the GREs, but I don't think a score of 1370 is too shabby. It ended up being:

Verbal: 670
Quantitative: 700

Totally bizarre, no? Seriously, I thought I was hallucinating when that came up on the screen at the end of the test. I almost had a heart attack, especially since I thought I was going to bomb the whole thing. I literally sat there taking the test, almost in tears because I thought I was doing so badly. As it turns out, I did very well indeed, particularly since the School of Information reports a median GRE score of 1250 for their master's-level students. That really takes a huge load off my mind; however, I really need to get all of my applications in post haste, ideally by this weekend. Both Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Mathews have agreed to write me reference letters, and I've already tentatively asked my third recommender, though I'll talk to her tomorrow. Things are moving along fairly quickly; I'm not sure how long it will take them to make a decision, but I should know within a few months whether I'll be attending graduate school this fall or not.

I'm off to take a hot bath with a cold beer as my reward. Cheers!
