Today has gone superbly. I got up this morning and wrote a good 1400 words before we got ready for brunch at the country club. I'm feeling good about this; I'm almost there and certain to make my goal with a week to spare. Anyway, on to my Thanksgiving. I've had enough liquor to float the Navy for a day, but I'm feeling all right. Three mimosas at breakfast, two with brunch, another before the movie and two glasses of wine tonight. I should be smashed, but I'm not, probably because of the amount of food I've eaten.
Anyway, I'll admit it. I liked Casino Royale. It certainly wasn't the typical Bond film, but the plot was tight and the action sequences fantastic. I loved the freejumping, which I learned about on a special on BBCAmerica, probably with the same man from the movie. There were lots of great locations, fabulous clothes (I loved Eva Green's wardrobe, though I'd probably look like crap in it). The plot had a lot of twists and turns, more than some of the more recent films and I didn't even notice the lack of gadgets or tongue-in-cheek jokes, though there were some great innuendos. As my mother said, the film had eye candy for the women and action for the men.
I'm going to get to bed soon; we're getting up somewhat early to do a little Black Tuesday shopping. There's nothing too big I want, but I figure we'll get out there early and then come back for a nap.
Quickly:
I'm thankful for my family, who love and support me in everything I do.
I'm thankful for my writing, which is sustaining me more than I believed.
I'm thankful for my friends, for being there when I need laughs.
I'm thankful for books, which have always been a refuge and an escape, which I need now more than ever.
