My parents and I celebrated Shrove Tuesday by going to IHOP for National Pancake Day (i.e. Free Pancake Day). We ate so much food, it was almost ridiculous. I don't think any of us are going to eat lunch, since we're still full. Of course, my parents were fine with going there, but I had to go online and find an explanation for exactly why you eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
Here is a great explanation for it.
Beside being Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras, it's the last day of February. I've done better on some of my yearly goals this month, but worse on others. I haven't written a single word of fiction this entire month. It's somewhat disgusting. I consider myself a writer, but I'm just sitting around on my rear not writing a single thing. I'm definitely going to pick that back up next month. I have done a lot better in terms of exercising. I've worked out every day for the past two weeks, which is a big accomplishment for me. I haven't lost any weight, but I can see the difference in my shape and my muscles. So, I'm very pleased with that aspect of my life.
I think I'm going to seriously have to reconsider living at home. It's wonderful in some ways, mainly: a) it's free; b) it's familiar and all of my stuff is here and c) I know the neighborhood. However: a) I've been having a few fights with my parents, which is never any fun; b) I sometimes feel very put upon, like I'm the maid and c) I also have no social life at all. I have no job prospects, though, which is a big roadblock, but there's got to be a way to overcome that, right? Well, we'll see. I think by 2007, though, that I've got to have my own place.
