I should have updated awhile back. but oh well.
The car was recovered by police within 24 hours. It was as we expected- stupid joyriding people. We then spent a week figuring out how to get it repaired, or if it was worth repairing. The shop we called quoted 300-400 bucks to repair the ignition. Fortunately, we did some research, and my father and I finished repairing the ignition ourselves today for drastically less cost. We still don't know about inspection, but for the meantime we aren't in horrid shape.
