Grandpa stuff.

So it looks like my grandpa's going to be in the home for the foreseeable future. The staff there believes that he does not currently have the mental wherewithal to live on his own.

Mom has taken over his finances (since the power of attorney was decided years ago when grandpa was still fine, all it takes is a note from a doctor saying that grandpa really can't be trusted with his money), and is going to keep me up-to-date.

Luckily, he has 120 days at the home paid for (20 from medicaid and then 100 from the army) and then when those are done he has a 75/25 deal where the army takes care of 75% of the bill, so we have that going for him.

As far as they can tell, he got a concussion from his fall, which with his age and the lack of knowledge on concussions that modern medicine has (thank you NFL for making research on this a priority to help everyone suffering from post-concussion shock, or whatever it is)... The home won't say it's a hopeless situation, but mom could tell from their eyes and body language that it pretty much is.

I love my grandpa, but is it wrong for me to either want him to make a complete recovery so he can go back home, or just pass on?

At any rate, I think I'm going to be calling my mom a lot. She'll talk with my sisters and all, but I'm the one that she tends to really open up to. Primarily because, as she put it, she got to know me as an adult the best. Well, that, and because I know enough social work tactics to be able to get people to express themselves.

Oh well, off to work with me.
