Been a while, I know... everytime I get around to updating lj, I find something else to do and forget about it. AHH sorry for lack of updates! In the last couple days, I noticed a lot of people who haven't updated in a while did update, so I felt as if I should too.
Not much new is in my life these days, just basically college life! I still really like it here at NIU, although I am about ready for some SPRING weather! The weather gods teased us last Sunday with that gorgeous day of 60+ degrees along with sunny blue skies... It really felt like spring was finally here! Then they decided to take that away and bring back the cold.
My classes are alright, I'm not doing so great in a couple of them :-/ I realize now how easy high school was! I barely ever studied in high school. I just did my homework and took the tests and got by with all A's and some B's. It's way different in college. I can't just blow off studying and just take a test. I gotta be more serious about studying!
Adam and I were lucky enough to get a visit from GEOSTER and GREG last weekend! They came up Saturday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon. It was so great seeing them and just having fun! It defintely was nice having people come and visit us here!
This friday will be the last day of classes, then it's SPRING BREAK! We aren't going anywhere this year unfortunately, because it was too late to set up any plans and we are saving our money. For sure next year, we are taking a trip somewhere, hopefully Mexico! I am SO ready for the break, let me tell you. I had so much to do for yesterday and today, and that is finally done. The last thing I need to do for the week before Friday is read The Taming of the Shrew and do the English Midterm.
This semester has gone by SO fast!!!! I am ready for the break but at the same time, I think "spring break already?!" I know after the break, the weeks will fly by even faster and I will be already done with my first year of college. It's amazing. For those still in high school, cherish all the time you have now before your high school years are over!
AND LASTLY, ADAM AND I GOT AN APARTMENT!!!! I am SO excited about this! We found a wonderful apartment, Lincolnshire West. It is only one block away from the NIU campus, and is on the Huskie Bus Route so it is in a perfect location! The apartments are so nice! We have a one-bedroom apt and it is such a nice size for a cheap rent! Adam and I were immediately comfortable once we saw it and we knew this is where we want to live. So, August 17th 2005, Adam and I will be moving into our first apartment together :) Our lease lasts until July 31st 2006. I thought about this before, and it's like we are going to be living together from that point and on for the rest of our lives. (With the exception of when we are at home for visits and stuff)
We will also be getting a CAT in the summer. One of the interpreters here at NIU lives on a farm, and so she has animals naturally. One of her cats is pregnant right now and the kittens should arrive early summer. She will be giving us one of the kittens. I'm excited!
Right now, we have our first "pet", a betta fish. His name is Stalker as he really looks at people. When we got him from the pet store, he would not stop staring at me while I held the cup of water in the car. He really looks at Adam and I all the time, and will follow my fingers along the tank and everything. He even knows when it's time to eat when we take out the bag of the food. Smart fish.
Alrighty I'm outta here to maybe do some reading!
