it is better to be careful than careless

it gets dark pretty early and walking home from the subway lately i have been very thankful for street lamps and the convenient shadows that they cast. i say convenient becuase as i am walking i often daydream about good looking boys and become somewhat oblivious of my surroundings and how vulnerable a young girl can be while skipping along alone on a dark evening. however, with the help of street lamps, if there is someone coming towards me from an angle that is usually visually inaccessible, i will still be able to see their shadow projected onto the sidewalk!!!! then i will walk faster or break into a run or start screaming or all of the above!!!! i love you street lamps!
