Summary: It was strange.
It was strange.
He was grieving, of course, and he knew it, but he also knew he had been grieving since he’d lost her to begin with, so really nothing had changed. Except now he had no hope.
She was dead, and that was that.
Except now, with her gone, he didn’t have any work for him to throw himself into. He had been spending every minute looking for her-that was his goal, his purpose in life. Now he didn’t have a purpose.
So he sat at his desk and did nothing, staring, because there was nothing for him to do.
Title: Catch me as I fall
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Claim: Daniel Jackson
Pairing: Daniel Jackson/Adria
Prompt: #16: Imprisoned
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 211
Spoilers: Season ten, and spoilers for the remainder of season ten if you squint really, really hard.
Summary: He sees Vala in her.
He sees Vala in her. He didn’t, at first, but now he can’t help it. She has her mother’s DNA, after all, at least he assumes that’s the way it is. Sam probably has a theory.
But as he sits here, locked up in a cell on her ship, looking at her, he’s having a hard time distinguishing between the two. She’s raging at him, wanting to know what’s wrong, why he can’t see.
He doesn’t know. He hasn’t known for years, even before the Ori, before her.
He’d wanted her dead, at the beginning. But now as he sees her again, he realizes what a shame it would be to kill a creature of such grace and fire. It’s like she’s sacred.
Which she is, but not for him.
She smiles, then. She’s won. Because she can see in his eyes the realization that he’s come to. “Your feelings for my mother have made you weak,” she says.
He just shakes his head, because they’re all tangled up in his mind, now, and his feelings for one are his feelings for the other, even though he can’t figure out what, exactly, his feelings are for either of them.
She leans down and kisses his cheek and walks away.
He watches.
Title: All that glitters is gold
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Claim: Daniel Jackson
Pairing: Daniel Jackson/Vala mal Doran
Prompt: #14: Blind
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 231
Spoilers: Vague season ten spoilers.
Summary: He tries to hold on to her face.
He tries to hold on to her face. He needs something to remember, to keep clear in his mind, because he never sees anything except the walls of his cell and Adria. He can’t tell if they’re moving, if they’ve landed somewhere, where they are, what galaxy they’re in… And he doesn’t know how much time has passed. His watch broke during the fall, and now just passively blinks 12:00 at him over and over.
But he can’t remember her face. It swims before his eyes, but he can’t bring it into focus, like he never saw her, except with his glasses missing. She has dark hair, he knows that, but so does Adria, and when he thinks of her, the two merge in his mind, and he thinks of her and sees Adria’s face, which seems right, except there’s a small voice that’s screaming at him, telling him that this is wrong, all wrong, but he can’t tell why,
He’s confused, and wonders how long he’s been here, knowing that the longer he stays, the less likely it is that they think he’s alive. It takes him several moments to find his watch, but finally he has it in his hand, and sees 12:00 blinking steadily at him in red digits.
He puts it away and tries to think of her face, and tries to remember why it’s so important.
The following are excerpts from a longer piece of fan fiction that I’m working on. “Catch me as I fall” and “All that glitters is gold” are also a part of this piece. Spoilers for anything are valid.

“Somebody do something!” Adria cries, which really doesn’t help.
The dragon swoops closer and she looks up at it. There’s so much she still doesn’t know-she doesn’t know anything about this beast, for one thing-so she grabs Daniel’s arm and shakes him and tells him to do something.
Her mother is holding his arm at the same time, though to what end, Adria isn’t sure.
Daniel ignores her and looks at her mother, before gently removing his arm from her grip and going for his gun. Adria remains holding his arm and he turns to glare at her. “Excuse me?”
She looks at him and keeps her eyes away from the cliff. Then she smiles, and pulls his arm, and they’re tumbling down through the dark.
Her body is beneath his, which is where it needs to be. She’ll survive the fall, and needs to make sure that he does, too. He’s no good to her dead.

Vala screams as he goes over the edge.

“General, we don’t leave anyone behind!” Cameron Mitchell is walking down the hall, trying to keep up with the General.
“That was before, Colonel. I have no way of knowing where he is, or even if he is alive.”
“You know he’s alive,” Mitchell says, stopping.
Landry turns and looks at him.
“Adria wouldn’t kill him.”
“None of us knows what Adria would do. That much is clear, Colonel.”

“Vala?”
“Oh, Sam.” She looks up, a piece of some artifact in her hand. “Do you need something?”
Sam shakes her head. “No, I just thought you might be here.”
“Yeah. I couldn’t sleep.” She puts the object back on the desk. It’s a statuette of some goddess or other.
“You want to talk?”
She shakes her head.
“Okay.”

“You know I can’t do anything.”
“You’re the head of Homeworld Security! There has to be something-”
“Listen, Carter, I’ll call you back. There’s someone I have to talk to.”
She sighs and hangs up the phone, turning to the door.
“Carter,” he says, smiling.
