Fandom: World War Z
Character: Original character
Prompt: in a city of the dead
Eventually she realizes that she’s actually grateful for the constant moans that come through her window. They remind her that she’s alive. She can still hear them. She can still feel. If they were all silent, then things would be worse, at least for her. Then she really would be in a city of the dead, with no one at all except herself, and that’s something she could not bear. To be alone, trapped in that silence, forever. The whole world could be dead. She could be the only one left. But as long as they’re still out there, she’s not really alone. Not completely.
She cleans her gun again and waits.

Pairing: Tony/Effy
Prompt: Sibling Rivalry
It probably starts because she wants to prove herself. She wants to show that she isn’t just his little sister who tags along sometimes and other times does even crazier shit than he could come up with. (He knows that this isn’t what she is at all, but she wants to prove it anyway.)
That’s probably where it starts.
Or maybe it starts with the kiss. They’re both already drunk. Their parents are out somewhere, and this would be the perfect time for Tony to be off somewhere with Michelle, probably fucking her. He’s frankly a little surprised that Effy’s still here. Usually she’d be gone by now, too, doing something stupid and making him worry, though he’d never admit that.
But instead they’re both here and both drunk and later neither of them will be able to say who moved first, but then they’re all over each other, lips and teeth and tongues and fingers and hair and god, this is Effy, but he doesn’t care.
They don’t talk about it later. Sometimes she still talks to him, late at night, saying cryptic things about the moon. And he still talks to her, tells her what he’s thinking and asks her what he should actually be doing, but neither of them talks about this. That would be bringing it much too far out into the light.
Instead, they just kiss again, because she still wants to prove that she’s better, and now he wants to prove the same thing, too.

Pairing: Rachel/Tobias
Prompt: my boyfriend is a bird
“My boyfriend,” she tells Sara, “Is a bird.”
Sara just looks at her cross-eyed. Literally cross-eyed.
Of course she expected no less. That’s why she told Sara. There was basically zero chance that Sara would take her seriously. Sara never listens to her when she tells the truth, or pretty much any other time, and that’s fine.
“A bird?”
“Yes, a bird.” It feels good to tell the truth to someone. Cassie doesn’t count. Especially because Cassie gets the full story with all the maybe’s and almost’s and what if’s. Sara just gets the honest truth. The basic fact.
“What kind of bird?”
“A red-tailed hawk.”
“Not a parrot? Then he’d talk as much as you do.”
Sara will forget the conversation almost immediately. Rachel will not.

Pairing: Lyra/Will
Prompt: someday soon
Someday soon, she will die. She can feel it in the creak of her bones and in her dæmon’s whisper. She’s had a good life. She knows that. She doesn’t need to ask the alethiometer if it’s been enough, though she could. But she knows the answer to that, too. It has been enough. She’s lived and she’s loved and she’s worked and she’s thought and she’s lived. And now she’ll soon die, and that will be another journey.
She’s thought often of the land of the dead and the harpies. Often at the beginning, and now she’s started to think of them again. In a way, it will be like going home. In a small way.
“We’ll see him again,” Pantalaimon says.
“Not see,” she corrects him, but of course she knows what he means. She looks forward to it. Once she thought she’d spend the rest of her life figuring out how to find him again, but she’s grown up now. She knows the answer was always there in front of her. Someday soon, she will die.
Fandom: Merlin
Pairing: Morgana/Lancelot
Prompt: under the moonlight
She goes walking alone in the gardens more often than not, now. Once Gwen would have accompanied her on those moonlit walks under the fruit tress. Maybe even Arthur would have come, talking about nothing and not realizing that what he should have been doing was finding a flower to tuck in her hair. Not now, though. Now Gwen has run off somewhere with Arthur and they both think she hasn’t noticed, so she walks alone and lets them pretend.
Or almost alone. A figure steps out onto the path in front of her, detaching himself from the shadows of a tree. It’s Lancelot.
“My lady,” he says.
“Lancelot,” she says.
“If I may?” He gives her his arm.
And now the night is not quite so alone. She can feel every breath that he takes somewhere deep inside of herself, and though she is not in love with him, she lets him kiss her on the mouth before she goes inside, because she knows what he does not say: Each of us is in love with another whom we cannot have, but for now, we have each other.
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Pairing: Daniel/Vala
Prompt: I know I didn’t technically forget anything, time was reversed, so, I guess it never happened. It just feels like I’m forgetting something.
She obsesses over what she hasn’t forgotten because it was never hers to remember. She starts by doing this vocally, pestering Teal’c while avoiding why she’s really asking. Eventually Teal’c tells her to shut up. He doesn’t actually say that, of course, but that’s what he means. And then he lights a lot of candles. It’s obvious that she’s not going to crack him unless she resorts to desperate measures.
So instead she quietly obsesses. Lots of stuff happened. If it hadn’t, Teal’c wouldn’t be so secretive now. She doesn’t just mean lots of kissing stuff. Other stuff happened, too. Maybe she took up a new hobby.
That one actually seems like a good place to start, and she goes to ask Teal’c about that one. He won’t talk about that either. Typically.
She very carefully doesn’t think about Daniel and what he might have done. She tells herself that this is because she’s more interested in what she did. Which she is. But she’s also interested in what she did with Daniel. Though she doesn’t admit that part, because that opens up other questions that she doesn’t need to think about right now.
Then she just asks Daniel, straight-out. “What do you think happened to us then?”
He sighs, pushes his glasses around, messes with his hair, and says, “I don’t know. Does it matter?”
“It could be useful!” she says. “We’d know what we’re going to do later.”
“Not really,” he says.
“But sort of. You have to agree that we’d know sort of.”
“Vala…”
His voice has that edge to it, so she leaves him alone, but maybe she’s got him thinking about it. Probably not, though.
She’ll ask Mitchell to ask Daniel, or possibly even to ask Teal’c. Mitchell is always the easiest one to crack.
