I have already outed myself as a geek, I know. But I may as well go all the way. I used to play World of Warcraft. A lot. And recently... I miss it. Is there anyone on my list who plays?
They're the same company, though I think StarCraft is more strategy-ish? Or ship-based combat? And Sci-fi, obviously. Warcraft is more D&D-ish, and MMORPG. Long before I realized all these things about myself, I was always playing female characters in game.
There are people who play the game and are uber-serious about it, I mean, they've perfected the systems, if you know what I mean. I can't manage that, I can't devote the time and brain-space to it. But there's a great social aspect to it on a lot of servers, occasionally there's some great roleplaying, and I have, yes, embarrassingly, had some great cybersex there before. On the other hand, there are assholes, there are guys who come up to any girl and assume you're either an idiot or that saying 'u r hot' will get them fucked, and there are teenaged boys and grown men who are no better than teenaged boys running around being morons. In other words, it's like anything else. :) Still, it's fun to me, and tends to be the least boring overall to me (most other games I've tried that were similar got to be a grind pretty fast). I quit a while back because I had sort of let it become an escape from everything else, and I mean in the not-good sense of that.
I babble. If you ever get the urge to try it, I'll hold your hand. ;)
