Vid: Life on Mars

Jan 27, 2008 17:22

I have finally finished my Gene Hunt vid! A momentous occasion considering that it's been sitting on my computer half-finished for about six months now.

Don't ask me why or how I finished it today when we're only four days away from the tax return filing deadline and I've been practically living at work since Christmas (I work in tax and therefore ( Read more... )

Today seems to be the day for vids (not that I'm complaining, quite the opposite ;)). Wow, Gene is a hero! I've always admired him, especially in that special way, but damn! I'm in love all over again. The bit with him punching Kim Trent was just...amazing! Thank you :)

OMG I'm melting -- from the loveliness that is Gene, from the weirdness of that song, from the mad craziness of the vid! Smiling like a Sammy Boy loon, here, grinning ear to ear in laughter. Well thought out and excellently edited, BTW! I'll just have to suffer through watching it again...

That song is just beserker, though. WTH did you find it???? *shakes head in amazement*

I think it's originally a Bonnie Tyler song, but this version is from Shrek 2.

What Culf said. :) (Yes, I have the Shrek 2 soundtrack. *Bows head in shame*) Thank you for the very nice comment!

Great vid! My favorite moments were "Isn't there a white knight" where we just see Gene's pale legs and white loafers, and the final shot was a wonderful end to this. I also enjoyed how you didn't show Gene before the lyrics said "I need a hero" for the first time.

I'd like to second that complement, because it was very clever and dramatic -- a hero's entrance! It would have been easy to shove Gene up to the first shot, so that shows some creative restrain and wisdom. Well done!

Thank you to you both! It's always nice when people notice something you actually did on purpose. :) (And wisdom? Really? O_o)

Thanks for the nice comments!

Love love love love love it!!!!

I remember the song well - It was Bonnie Tyler had a hit with it - but I'd never noticed the words before. They are just awesome for Gene! Of course, he just is a hero, but you've put the pics to the words brilliantly, in so much detail. Even that little bit where Gene is watching the Ray/Sam standoff from his office "someone somewhere watching me".

I just can't stop grinning while I watch it - it sums up a lot of how I feel about Gene, and you really have presented him as a hero. And I love the way you've also shown how Sam feels about him.

Did I say - I really really like this. A lot.

btw, I downloaded the vid, but Windows Media Player won't play it, nor will Real Player. I really want to have this one available to play again - is there any other format? I don't think I've ever tried playing an mpg before.

How weird! I've never had any trouble playing mpgs in Windows Media Player, but I have an ancient version - are you using Vista? Anyway, I've uploaded it as a wmv file to here as well, hope that works for you. I tend to use mpg format rather than wmv as the quality is slighter higher, but the difference is pretty much negligible so I should probably switch.

And thank you for the lovely comment!

I've now downloaded the wmv version, so thank you very much for that. I can see the difference in quality, but it's better than a black screen! (I'm using a version of WMP that came with Windows XP; it's version 10 apparently)

I've watched your fantastic vid several more times now, and I just grin like a complete fool every time.

The Sam part of my icon is from that Kim Trent scene; I've described that look to people before as "My hero, take me", so I love your use of it to this song.

I've also sent the link to two other people who might be unfortunate enough not to get to LJ in the next few days, because I'd hate them to miss this.

Thanks again, great vid.

And now I suppose I'd better go back to my Tax Return...
