Day of bad news...
Japan suffered a horrid disaster, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake that crippled Sendai and a tsunami that came inland five miles. The wave itself was around 30 feet high.
Websites that are monitoring the disaster:
"Footage from "Citizentube" on Youtube" "Citizentube" on Youtube. - Has a lot more videos on it.
Al-Jazeera's website.Al-Jazeera's article covering it.The "live blog" covering it.The live coverage on Al-Jazeera about the disaster.NY1's article on it. Over 300 dead, 530 missing, and nearly 1000 others are injured. This number is completely different by now, though, since I heard this on CNN about four to five hours ago. Relief funds are set up and they can be easily found online. Here is one:

There were earthquakes going on in the days before, foreshocks, if you will, and then the near-9.0 hit sometime between 7 and 9 PM yesterday, I believe. They are still having tremors and aftershocks going on even now, I'm sure. This earthquake/tsunami combination may very well rival Katrina in terms of devastation, I personally think, but I don't know how far inland the water went. I do know that Japan was having houses physically picked up and moved, as well as people getting trapped in cars that were being swept away. The survivors of Katrina had WARNING, well in advance warning, about the hurricane coming in. These people had FIFTEEN MINUTES warning for the earthquake. The tsunami happened mere minutes later. I think that Louisiana was given two or three days' warning to get out. These people did not.
