Humbug & Resolutions

Dec 26, 2008 12:15

Christmas was wonderful this year.  It was only four of us.  My aunt and my uncle (who I always refer to as my parents cuz they raised me), my husband and me.  There were no kids running around, there were no macho matches between my husband and my brother in law.  It was great.  I even got a gift (for the first time ever) sent through the mail from my real mother--it wasn't much, but it meant a lot that she thought of me.

But I am sooo glad it's OVER!

No more debates over Christmas/holiday trees (which is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of--what OTHER holiday uses decorated trees that you put up on Dec. 25?), no more rushing around for model airplanes, no more spending money needlessly, and no more extra money being sent out because of the Christmas lights.

Eagerly awaiting the drinking binge that is New Years!  It's my Marti Gras before I begin my 2009 New Year's Resolutions, which are as follows:
  1. Treat my body as a temple (e.g. ween self off alcohol, ween self off processed foods, start juicing again, sleep regularly, eat regularly, exercise regularly, set an example for my husband to do the same)
  2. Establish a schedule *cringes* (I may push this one back till next year)
Last year's resolutions were to get back into going to church and re-establish faithful prayer. So far, I'm doing pretty good.  Church is a regular thing now and prayer is regular and well on the way to becoming faithful.  Baby steps to self-improvement.  My husband is going regularly for the first time in his life and he says that he's  much happier now than he was last year at this time.

Now I've got to work on the drinking habit. *cries*
