My FemShep had the second one in that video, where Shepard yells "Cortez!" and Kaidan yells "You're gonna pay for that ahhh!" then Cortez went down and I don't have anything else with him. Are you saying your FemShep has the Dude!Shep line? I haven't heard of that one yet.
If you complete either Steve's frienship arc or his romance arc, Steve will actually survive the crash. Ss FemShep you get the bit above - where you have a subtitled "Steve!" and then Cortez's response and retreat. As a DudeShep, the "Steve!" is actually voiced (and according to my friend who has run her DudeShep and completed Steve's frienship arc, it sounds quite "plaintive").
Hmm. I talked to him after every mission, well most missions at least, I might have missed a couple but I know I talked to him every time I went down to talk to Vega. Guess I missed a crucial one for the friendship arc.
The Memorial Wall turtle is talking about is actually at the refugee docks on the Citadel.
The way you get the scene: always talk to him. Always. After the conversation where you convince him to take shore leave (via Persuade or Intimidate, your choice), he sends you an e-mail about meeting him at the Citadel. The next time you stop at the Citadel, he's at the end of the Normandy dock, and you talk about ships.
The very next time you go to the Citadel after you've completed a mission (I think even an N7 mission will trigger this), go down to the refugee docks. The Memorial Wall is just off to the left once you've entered the dock proper.
Steve has a conversation/cutscene there. Complete it, and you'll get another e-mail from him when you're back on the Normandy. He asks you to come to Purgatory with him.
The next time you're on the Citadel after a mission, swing by Purgatory. Steve's waiting for you at the upstairs bar by the back wall.
Yeah, I looked it up on YouTube. I did the bit about shore leave but don't remember an email from him about meeting him on the Citadel and I don't remember seeing him on the Citadel at any time past that. I just must have missed it, I'll get it next playthrough though.
...Kaidan's yell is... out of left field... O.o I didn't see any interaction between Kaidan and Cortez in my playthrough. I wonder what I need to do to lose Steve? (I like to experience all the options. I'm ...odd?)
And yeah. She doesn't yell "Steve!" but the text pops up like she did. She's completely silent while the crashing is going on. And then it plays out like the dudeShep but with J Hale's voice.
My femshep and Cortez were BFFs, and I got his pilot friends War Asset. Didn't know he could die. I think I talked to him the most throughout the game. He's a very tragic character. (And a pilot. Bonus Friendship Points. Pilots are awesome.)

Ahh, okay got it.
I thought I talked to him a lot, I always made the rounds after every mission but I guess I could have missed him a couple times.
