"These are a few of my favorite things..."

Two wonderful things were discovered this weekend:
1.  Akira.  I had a free rental from the movie gallery & had my heart set on some anime.  Of course, up here in the middle of nowhere that's hard to come by, but they did have Akira.  I knew nothing about it, but I figured as long as it's anime I'll probably like it.  It was quite awesome.  I especially liked the music and the visual landscape.  The city of Neo-Tokyo is so expansive... and all the lights!  It made me think of the impression you get being in a city as a kid, with the lights and shadows everywhere and if you squint your eyes all the light blurs together...  I plan on watching Akira a few more times before I have to return it.  (This is a huge testament to how much I am intrigued by it; normally I'll watch a movie once and then refuse to watch it again for at least a few months).

2.  Puffins cereal.  I don't care if you're not on a gluten-free diet, you NEED to try Puffins cereal (honey-rice variety, I can't speak on the tastiness of the other varieties).  I bought it yesterday because I'm almost out of gluten-free granola & needed something crunchy to put in my yogurt.  The trend with gluten-free products, in my opinion, is that they're not bad, but they take some getting used to.  You eat it the first time and think "Oh wow... this tastes... ummmm.... weirrrrdddd....." but within a couple weeks you're used to it and possibly even ENJOY eating the stuff (case in point - buckwheat flour cookies and gluten-free granola).  So I ate the cereal expecting the same sort of experience, but lo and behold: IT IS DELICIOUS.  It tastes sort of like the cereal part of Lucky Charms, it's nice and sweet but light and it's friggin' good for you!!  And it's got an adorable looking Puffin on the box.

I also have more of The White Horse written, so I might post it later... if I have the time....
OH!  and this Thursday the family is coming to see my chorus's spring concert.  It will be so awesome to have this concert behind me.  And it will be even cooler to know people who are at the concert specifically to see me!!!

gluten-free, life
