Laurel is home for the week before school starts, which so far means she wants to watch TV (I canceled our cable last billing cycle but it's still on) and complains about the lack of snack food. We'll both be relieved when school starts on Monday

I do sincerely hope that this is the bottom for you and that things drastically improve for you in the ways that you want. You're a strong woman - much stronger than me at this point. You deserve the best. I hope things get easier, or at least more rewarding. On the bright side, at least we will soon be rid of this constant heat and have a few months of reprieve.

I think it will work out. The agency I am making an appointment with specifically deals in short-term emergency assistance.

In addition, our complex does want to keep us as residents. Kevin's been here eight years and we are low-maintenance tenants. It's just been a bit confusing dealing with staff recently because ownership of the complex changed July 1st and all new office staff came with it.
