Book fair day 3.

Spring book fair has always been the same week as chili dinner fundraiser and teacher appreciation dinner, but this is the first time I've worked book fair open to close every day and done the after-school events all together.

We have a couple of kids that try it every year. I've been doing it long enough to know what to watch out for.

I am going to crash tonight once I have the kiddo in bed.

By some stroke of luck, I got the end of the cakes from the dinner. It's so rich I can only eat a little piece at a time, so the 3x5" chunk of mocha cake will last me days. I expect Laurel and Vogon will split the fruit cake chunk. (It smells divine but I will resist because it contains kiwi and mango, both oral allergy syndrome triggers for me. I think the cake itself is green tea flavored because it's that matcha powder green.)

Laurel gets dismissed to book fair at the end of the day (rather than me going outside to get her) and after slinging her bag behind the cashier table, she pulls a book and sits down to read until we close up.

Last fall I found her curled up on the floor with a book at closing time:
