I meant to post this earlier in the week, but shortly after I sat down at the computer yesterday, the power went out. It came back on just over half an hour ago. Since only one outage we've had since I've been here *wasn't* specific to them (a
substation failure I blogged about back in May), we will more than likely be switching providers.

I'd hoped to secure a Friday afternoon appointment on one of the weeks Vogon has a short day on Fridays, but the ophthalmologist we'll be seeing is only available in the morning on Thursdays and Fridays, so Laurel will be seeing him on a Monday afternoon instead.
I am moderately cranky with paperwork from Laurel's school.
First, the computerized copy of her registration card sent home for verification and my signature made it obvious they use
SASI -- my cell phone's area code was changed to a local one (likely an automatic correction since they have two digits in common), which explains why the nurse couldn't get ahold of me last week, and Vogon's information was completely dropped from the second parent/guardian relation box. I asked a few people that have used SASI what they'd recommend and filled it out again with his information, this time listing his relationship to her as 'stepfather'.
Then, after rushing to make sure the school fund raiser paperwork due today was squared away this morning at breakfast (I'd planned to do it last night, but filling out a triplicate form by flashlight lost out to waiting for ambient morning light), one of the sheets in this week's schoolwide notices folder let me know that it had been extended through September 14th. Blargh. If you're interested in buying anything, the information is in
this post; if you're local and want to make a paper catalog order, let me know and I'll get another order sheet.

My first den meeting as an assistant Webelos den leader is tonight. I found out on Tuesday that the boys aren't at the level of experience I was expecting, but it's not a big issue and is easily remedied. I picked up a current edition of the Webelos Handbook today and will be ironing out uniform details (heh) in the next several days as experienced uniform parts from my folks arrive and I order the rest of what I need online since I think the closest authorized Scout supply retailer is
Elliott's Hardware up in Plano.

And with that, it's time for me to boogie the fridge since I didn't want to let all the cold air out of the fridge doing it last night and a fair amount of things are ready to be tossed. Wish me fortitude against the scent.
