I seem to have caught the Reed plague that's going around. All of my muscles ache and I cycle between chills and fever. I'm downing Airborne and chicken soup while hoping that this will be a short-lived illness. I have the plague. I'm comforting myself my forming mental lists of other things I have. As I understood it, it wasn't that Airborne had been proven worthless as that the study that demonstrated its benefits had been discredited, and so its utility in preventing illness had been called into question. I don't think anyone doubts that it helps, but the degree to which it does so is disputed, and there has been some evidence that the large quantities of Vitamin C it contains can be harmful in the long term.

Yeah, I may have exaggerated a bit. But "The Supposed Clinical Date That Airborne Is Effective Turned Out To Be A Sham" is a less snazzy title. I've been taking one Airborne a day as opposed to the one every 3 hours that the packages recommends, so I'm hoping the excessive vitamin C I'm consuming won't be excessive to the point of harmfulness.

I've heard that Vitamin C is water soluble so that you just pee out the excess. But then again I abhor science, so it could be a mistake.

I think that's generally true. One tablet of Airborne contains 1000% of your daily recommended dosage of Vitamin C, though, and it recommends that you take them every 3 hours. It's nearly impossible to consume a toxic level of Vitamin C, but massive doses over time can supposedly overwhelm your body's usual excretion process and cause kidney stones.

Yeah, I doubt it'll be a problem in that case. A lot of vitamin supplements have that much or more in them, it's just they're generally the once-a-day kind, as opposed to the 3-4+ times-a-day kind.
