Conversation I had with the company's VP yesterday:
(background: My office also contains the server room, so there's an electronic lock on the door. I recently changed the code, and the maintenance guys were upset that I wouldn't give it to them since they're convinced that my office/server room is a storage closet. Oh, and the head maintenance guy is the father of the owner of the company)
VP: What's the new code to your door?
Me: xxxx
VP: Ok, I'm going to give this to [head maintenance guy].
Me: Well, a good part of why I changed the code is that he and the maintenance folks kept coming in and poking around the server room looking for paint, mops, etc.
VP: Ok, I'll tell him that this isn't a maintenance closet. If it becomes a problem, just change the code.
Me: *headdesk*
