Announcement
I have been blogging here since the fall of 2004. Back then, I was a senior at Pepperdine University. This blog has seen a lot of excitement since then! Graduating college, traveling to Asia and Africa, moving to San Diego, navigating the horrors of law school and the bar exam, becoming part of an amazing 20s group at church, falling in love with and eventually marrying Brandon. It's definitely been an awesome six years and I've loved getting to document it all here and have people keep up to date on my life and leave comments.
But, things are always changing and over the past year or two, I feel like I've only kept blogging out of obligation or habit. I don't put much effort into my entries. I get few comments anymore, and most of the people who used to blog here too have stopped updating their livejournals regularly or at all (Megan and Kelli would be the exceptions here). I still enjoy blogging, but it's time for a change.
I've been thinking a lot recently about how I'd like to switch up my style of blogging, and make whatever I do be more of a proper blog with a theme. The blogs that I most enjoy reading (aside from my friends' blogs) are those that have a particular focus: running, mommying, food, etc. So I've been trying to come up with something that I would really enjoy blogging about on a regular basis, and the only thing that really kept coming up was my writing.
Now, I don't currently read any writing-focused blogs, although I am positive there are about eleventy-trillion already in existence. The only one I really know about that friends of mine read is Neil Gaiman's blog. Hopefully I can remedy that as I begin this new blog. My writing is something that I've really started to take seriously over the past year, and I think it would be interesting to document my journey as I attempt to finish the novel I've been writing on and off for the past three and a half years (well, mostly 'off' aside from this past year).
So this is my announcement inviting you to read my new blog - it's actually an old failed blog attempt from 2004, but I've gotten rid of the three months' worth of entries that were there so I can start fresh (I believe they are archived here, in all their awkward glory). I hope to still update here occasionally, which is all I do now anyway, but I may end up transitioning personal updates over there as well, since I'm not sure how maintaining two separate blogs will help me in my quest to finish a novel.
I'm keeping the name essentially the same for now, at least until I can come up with something a little more creative. Elizabeth vs. Normality: Struggles of a First-Time Novelist Thanks for sticking around so long here at A Deliberate Oddity, and I hope to see whatever remnants of my readers are still around over there sometimes.
