I run an Apple iMac G5, I've had it for a year and half now. This morning it was lagging for some reason (maybe cause I was running 7 apps, one being photoshop CS2), but I decided to go look for virus statistics and maybe even viruses that are active. The ONLY thing I found was an article laying out the possibilities that Macs can be infected. And another article told how the geeks just don't write viruses for OSX. Any list I found contained very outdated viruses, and some sites had folks boasting there hasn't been an infected Mac since the 90's. I read the phrase "Security by Obscurity" which I agree with, and I think I will keep the virus chance in the back of my mind.

I'm surprised no one's written anything to attack iPods or something like that. Maybe in the PC world. But I do feel secure, not only cause there supposedly aren't any Mac viruses out, but because of the way the OS operates on a very daily basis. Not one application on this machine has been installed without me being asked first. And in most cases it requires the Admin password. I am always informed if a file I get off the internet contains a program of any kind. I block pop-up ads. Anything that's irreplaceable on here is backed up so, I have to admit I'm not worried.

Anyone else know anything about Mac viruses?
