Back on Track; Back in Black

"You ask how my day was... you've already won me over, in spite of me, and don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet..."

This is what I'm listening to... it's been a long week. Some of you probably know that I've abandoned my goal of memorizing "Dreams" by The Game, but one of his lyrics (which he borrowed from NaS) adequately summarizes the last few weeks of my life: "I don't sleep cause sleep is the cousin of death." Last night, Mike, Justin, and I spent ten hours learning half a semester of Wildlife Issues, a class to which we have been once since classes began. Once we had learned about endangered butterflies, squirrel brain disease, bobwhite quails, and thallium (Aftermath presents 'Nigga wit an attitude, Thallium One'), I treated myself to a four hour rest on Rob's floor.

I don't sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death.

I haven't updated my LiveJournal in a while - thanks to Kimberly Fulscher and Jon Senn, I decided to give it another shot. The last month and a half of my life can be summarized with the following terms/phrases:

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Sublicious
Jeanna Yoon
$208.50
The Schaus shallow tail butterfly
Virtua Tennis
I met a nice Jewish girl named Lisa.
Sunday dinner
I meeeeean... what the fuck else is there? I'll end up summarizing most of it in the next few paragraphs... what the fuck do you want me to write?!
No poker.
Dragon Ascending
(If you can think of anything I missed, let me know).

When my parents bought me a radar detector for my car, I remember hearing my dad describe with great enthusiasm how his radar detector made him feel like a fighter pilot evading enemy MIGs. Since I spent the better part of my adolescence emulating Maverick from Top Gun (or at least Viper), and since nobody was on the road at 11 PM anyway, I decided to experience this rush firsthand - unfortunately, my radar detector didn't notice Officer Tyrone Jamaica, who clocked me (miraculously) at 95 mph. $208.50 and a speech about how I'm too young to be driving so fast later(I guess one needs to be at least 30 before going 95 on the Turnpike), I was back on the road, reminding myself that Maverick would've been dead if his tracking devices hadn't responded; so what was $208.50? A small price to pay for my life! This realization made me happy, and I turned the music up to its previous volume in celebration. Although I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend, my parents put me in charge of my sister's homecoming afterparty. I got to throw a few kids out of my house on Saturday night, which was awesome. Anat and Limor were both there, making me the luckiest man in the world (in the eyes of most of my friends). The only other interesting thing that happened to me last weekend took place at the Dania Jai Alai Poker Room (where my dad and I go to bond). A lady sitting at my table saw my PartyPoker hat and asked me how I withdraw money without the government knowing. I briefed her on the wonders of online banking, thereby helping one more person elude the evil IRS. Then I dodged the draft. Then I burnt a flag. Then I started to hate freedom, making me a terrorist.

But not as much a terrorist as Kanye West, whom I'm going to see tonight at the O'Connell Center. Most people are probably looking forward to hearing Golddigger and Diamonds, but I'm hoping to get more insight into his political ideology - I can turn on iTunes whenever I want and listen to rap, but I need to turn on MSNBC to hear Kanye talk about politics. At least if that doesn't happen, I'll get to see the Young Republicans protest in front of the arena - this alone is worth the price of admission. Maybe they'll try to convince me that stem cell research is evil and that global warming doesn't exist.

The Kanye concert notwithstanding, my weekend will be spent right here at my computer, as I struggle to complete my Southeast Asian Politics midterm. If anyone would like to help, I'd be more than willing to compensate you for doing some basic research. Next weekend, I'm going to Georgetown for a Model UN conference, and the next weekend I'm judging at the Blue Key Debate Tournament (I might judge the extemp round robin, if they let me). I'm listening to the Notorious BIG right now - although he's not as intellectual as Immortal Technique, his lyrics flow like icewater. I'm looking for two songs: Insensitive by Alanis Morisette and Ethyr by NaS.

I'm running out of things to write. Evan and I are trying to amass a small fortune this month, but with Biology tests for him and Politics/Literature midterms for me, we're gonna have to work doubly hard. I'm starting to consider going back to Chipotle since everyone's been telling me that it's better than Moe's. I just don't see it. It's been awhile since I bought a fine shirt, so a trip to the mall might be in order. If I think of anything else, I'll edit this entry.

Thanks for the read - I'm back.

Comments welcome.
