Does anyone know if nostalgia can become a serious illness? I'm starting to see and hear things apparently... Hear the voices of my sisters or feel that old hag's eyes on my back... Just a moment ago I would have swear to have seen one of my sister's peeking at me from behind a door like when we were small.

Is this... A serious illness?

I've never heard of nostalgia as an illness before ... Maybe you're just very homesick?

I hadn't heard about love as an illness either, yet it is.

[Tosses her hair behind her shoulder.]

I rarely get homesick. In fact I would have no reason to get like that, all I care about is here after all.

[Not all, but that for which she's willing to give up everything else is here indeed.]

Oh, love isn't an illness at all, but never mind that. [And you may want to, Boa -- if there's one thing that gets Flonne riled up, it's that subject :|;] Sometimes, even the littlest things can be missed when you're away from home for a long time. You say all you care about is here, but surely there's something else from home that you miss too?

[If only she knew, she would probably shut up. But she doesn't know and she doesn't like to be told she's wrong, even more when she knows she isn't -at least according to her world-.]

It is an illness indeed and a mortal one on top of that. Many before me have died because of it and only one managed to survive its effect.

I won't say there aren't a few things I may miss, but those are things I gave up on long before coming here. [Her sisters mostly, and she gave up on her people even longer before.] Still, missing them to the point of hallucinating isn't something I find normal.

[Sadly, Flonne would argue the point even if Boa showed her proof.]

That sounds terrible, but it must have been something else.

No, it isn't normal ... it might be something the Malnosso are doing to you, but just in case, maybe you should visit the clinic?

No, it was love. Definitively. I, myself, the moment I fell in love got close to die from it. Even now I wouldn't say I'm out of danger.

I thought the one in charge of the clinic was a male?

[Yes, she sounds as if that would be a problem in fact.]

But that's not what love is supposed to do! You must have confused it with something else.

Huh? Oh, yes, he's male, but there are female doctors and healers there too.

It took away my will to eat, it gave me intense heartache as if there was a dagger piercing my heart, it made even breathing an extenuating effort. All because I knew my loved one would depart and I would probably never see him again.

A doctor checked me, one of the wisest members of my tribe did so as well. She determined that it was love what caused me that state and that it would kill me if something wasn't done soon. Are you claiming that my people were wrong?

[Female doctors would be good... As long as she doesn't have to get naked.]

How many female doctors?

O-Oh, I'm sorry ... Heartbreak is related to love, but it's certainly not an illness. I can see how your doctor would consider it one, though ...

[ ... ]

Um, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure. If you ask, I'm sure someone who knows will tell you.

It is an illness, how could it not be one when in attacks in such a surprise and hurts so much? And my hear hasn't been broken, can't you see I'm alive? No one can live without a heart, even children know this.

[She humphs at the lack of more information. Way to be useless to her, girl.]

I will do as I please. I do have a doctor I trust already anyway, he just isn't here for the moment.

Love is an emotion, not an illness! And heartbreak doesn't mean your heart really breaks -- it's the feeling you get when you can't be with the one you love! It's very depressing and, if it's bad enough, can make a person sick, too ...

[Bah. Oh well.]

I-I see ...

You say it's not an illness yet admit it can make a person sick?

[Sense, you're not making much of it.]

And if love is just an emotion how come it's so rare? No one else in my tribe had it and even if there have been past records about it appearing it was still a rare thing to happen.

Well, when your heart is broken because you can't be with someone, it can lead to depression, and that is an illness. Um, I think.

And uhm, I'd need to know a lot more about your tribe and world in order to answer something like that! But I'm certain your tribe must have had love in their hearts -- not the kind of love where you devote yourself to one person, but the sort of love you have for family and friends! That wasn't rare, was it?

Depression? That would be an understatement to what I felt back then.

[Frown.]

What foolishness are you saying? That isn't love, that's like! You like your family and friends, you love your husband. It's a basic difference.

[Which obviously means that a husband isn't part of the family... Apparently.]

You don't date your family, do you?

Like stems from love! You can feel love for your family, your friends, or even your homeland, but it doesn't mean you have to date any of them!
