[In light of everything's that's happened these past two days - three kidnappings and oh, let's not talk about the draft - for the first time in about six months, Sanji's casting aside his age and throwing the equivalent of a tantrum. A note on Seventh Heaven's door says it'll be closed for the day, and hey, if anyone gets in his face about it-- eh ( Read more... )

not a good day, grumpy chef is grumpy, hate this place, forward-dated like always

[She was around the village herself, but he of course couldn't see her when he was throwing up the sign and leaving. Didn't take a psychotherapist to tell he was upset.

Later in the day, when she hopes he had some time to let off the steam, she'll pen him a note.]

Rough day Sanji-san?

[It wasn't a note he expected to see upon opening his journal. And here he'd thought he'd kept his bad mood to himself pretty well, too.

Still, he takes his time to answer, carefully thinking for what he wants to write]

You could say that. [It's true enough. Then he continues] I don't remember signing up for war.

Drafts for the army existed in my world, so I didn't think it was surprising. [...] Except for drafting people who didn't seem fit for combat situations.

[He's fleetingly glad this is written - words lose some potency when facial expressions aren't there to give them more bite]

Apparently, it's out of their hands - they have to send them. [Or some stupid shit.]

[Normally, she might check up on him. But if she's going off to apparent war in the next ...day? That close? ... she's going to do nobody any favours if she goes trekking off into the snow and ends up making her cold worse.

So instead, Nami leaves him to vent off his temper, because she thinks he might not like her brand of intervention today in any case. She'll be in her room when he finally returns for dinner-- climatact separated and laid aside on the bed next to her, and (of all things) poking at her bare feet with the blunt end of a pen.]

[He hits the kitchen before doing anything else, even being careful to downplay his arrival. To be honest, he's still not in a real mood to cook, but a duty is a duty, and there's a crew to feed.

Though he purposely picks a recipe that will take time to cook thoroughly, giving him an excuse to knock on Nami's door not thirty minutes later.]

May I come in, Nami-san?

[And there he is. She glances up.] Come on in, Sanji-kun.

[He swings open the door, and heh. First thing he sees is the climatact. You could almost call the fleeting grin on his face proud - it's certainly approving]

You ready? [He takes a spot by the wall, his hands loosely shoved into his pockets]

[With no one in town to check in on.....

Ginko has gone for a walk in the woods.

To think.

The familiar outline has altered just a little-- a longer blue coat stark against the leafless trees and snow from the past two days snowfall, grey scarf pulled over his head. He stops to stare at something on a branch, and doesn't hear Sanji, walking nearby.]

[Sanji sees Ginko first, then... and nearly turns to walk away before he's spotted. Because what the hell is he gonna say? The man's going off to war with him, crippled and unable to fight. There are not enough words to describe how fucked up this is.

So he doesn't say anything. He just stares flatly, watching him, caught up in anger that's too fresh and keeps right on growing the longer he looks at Ginko]

[You're anger is tangible, Sanji. This has been established.

And so he turns on a whim and spots him.] Hey. [his voice is as placid as his expression.]

[The answer to that is a heavy punch of an exhale. Sanji doesn't trust himself to speak without flinging words around.

But he does approach to where Ginko's standing, all the same]

[Jack finds him in their favorite spot: the bar. He's seen the draft post and is more than a little angry about it, so he's been blowing off some steam of his own. He considers leaving the pirate alone, but drinking alone is bad at the best of times, so he wanders over to join him.]

Hey.

[Jack's in luck. By now, most of the anger's been deflated, leaving instead that hollowed sense of expectancy, and maybe some stubborn commitment]

Yo.

[Jack orders a scotch, not feeling like getting completely trashed on hypervodka tonight.] Saw your name on the draft list. Lucky you, huh?

I've had worse luck. [It's not him he's concerned with, anyway. So all that earns is a shrug]

Tch, it'll be nice blowing off some steam.

[And soon after Iris hears that lovely announcement from Bil, she's going to try and find Sanji.

She'll teleport into Seventh Heaven if she has to, but if he seems too angry to approach at that time, then she'll find him in the forest instead.

She's not too happy about Sanji and Nami being on that list without her, especially with Nami being sick still and needing rest, not being on the battlefield. Well, if she's not going, then she may as well offer to help the two make preparations or something.]

[One day he will get used to you randomly popping up, Iris. ONE DAY.

But that day isn't today, and he nearly trips into a halt.]

Iris-chan?

[She figures randomly popping in is better than making people randomly pop in on her.]

I didn't mean to startle you. But I wanted to make sure you would be all right and to see if there was anything I could do before you leave or while you and Nami are gone.

[She's trying to smile so he doesn't feel even worse. But honestly, she's worried sick.]

[Heh. Her obvious concern does set him somewhat at ease, and Sanji damn near yanks himself out of his mood so he can respond properly]

Awaaaah, is my lovely goddess worried about me~? [A-ahaha, that nickname has some more weight to it now, doesn't it? Regardless! He grins and looks pleased and acts like he normally word, the direness of this situations aside]

No need to fret, Iris-chan~! We'll be fine. Though if you could make sure the crew doesn't level any shit while we're gone...
