[Nami's back. The shitface has been chased away. A semblance of peace has returned to House 6.

And it's because of this that Sanji takes off once he's made dinner. Because he's realized, to his horror, that he's still not happy. Seeing Nami's condition only furthered the turmoil he's kept a tight lid on, didn't lessen the edge much. It's going to ( Read more... )

[Brook was kinda hoping you'd be in a better mood once they got Nami back, but going by how you were acting around dinner and the fact that he can't find you around the house now... he guesses that isn't the case.]

[Well then. He'll just help himself to the gallon of milk while you're out and take a seat at the table with his journal. Healing takes foreeeeever here. Even with milk.]

Dinner was excellent as always. You left before I had the chance to thank you for it.

[Sanji took his journal with him - he's not so selfish as to completely cut off communication when his crew might need him - but he doesn't answer right away, either. Thus he's halfway through the forest by the time he browses around, crunching through the dead wood and natural debris decorating the forest floor.]

Of course it was good - like I'd feed you idiots anything else. [it comes out rather halfhearted. Sanji's too unfocused to properly tsun.]

I'll be out for a bit, Brook. Should be back by morning, though.

[And by that time the gallon of milk is nearly gone and Brook's trying to bribe Chopper to let him out of the house. Let's give the doctor a panic attack, y/y?]

Ah; just the answer I was after, and I didn't even need to ask. I will keep an eye out for you, then. Or rather I would if I had one, but being a skeleton I don't. Yohohoho...

[...This is one of the rare times where he wants to ask you what's wrong, but he won't because he knows it's not his place. Guess he'll just spend his time while you're gone trying to think of a way to cheer you up] Neh, Sanji-san? You tend to favor jazz music, do you not?

Oi. Stop terrorizing Chopper, Brook. [Despite the severity of his mood, Sanji's got enough energy to chastise the skeleton. Not that that ever helps.]

[Snorts and mutters.] Skull joke.

[It's the next question that lifts a layer off his mood, startling Sanji into honesty] That's right. [... somehow, he can guess what Brook is up to. If he could, he'd muster up a smile, but instead the fondness floats around somewhere in his chest, invisible]

Eh? Whyever would I do that? I'd just like to take a walk.

But that's about what I thought. You seemed to enjoy the song I played for your birthday, in any case. [And you liked it when you were a kid, too. Once he's done with Chopper, he thinks he'll go practice a few pieces...]

Hoooo? Your injuries healed already, skeleton? [this is not the pot calling the kettle black - especially when the pot can kick your ass.

Damn it, Brook. The barest traces of a smile pull at Sanji's mouth]

That piece? Yeah, it's m-

[-- You should come play at the Baratie. Then we'd be twice as famous. --

-- Yohohoho! I'm glad you enjoyed it! --

Well fuck. Excuse him a moment, Brook, Sanji's head is pounding and he drops the journal abruptly]

Shitty fuckin-- eh. [at the very least, he doesn't sound in danger. Just annoyed and tired]

[He was going to ignore that first comment anyways - because he's totally fine; those cracked ribs, etc will be healed in no time - but the sudden pause and the way the journal drops guarantees that. Even if he doesn't sound like he's in danger, it still worries him.]

S-Sanji-san?

It's alright, Brook. [Not quite how he wanted to demonstrate his superior health right now. Slowly he picks up the journal, mindful of the tiny window - until he's certain he won't look so ghastly pale, it'll be aimed at the forest]

Just another... [he hasn't told Brook yet, has he? Honestly, he'd hope the issue would never come up, even though it hardly worries him.

But he won't lie, either] A flashback.

[Another, huh? Don't worry, as long as they're not Oda-spun all is well]

Have you been having many of these? [He won't ask of what, though knowing would make him a lot less worried]

[a shrug... until Sanji remembers Brook can't see him. After a deep breath, he turns the journal back to him]

A few, here and there. [A loop-sided grin.] No damage done.

Of course not - just my damn memories.

I'll trust your judgement on that, then.

If you need more time to yourself, just let me know. [You... never really did get time to recover from that whole being a child thing, he's remembering now. So he can understand why you might need to get away for a bit to de-stress.]

[No, he didn't. Which might explain quite a few things, honestly.

Brook's treated to a thin smile] Like I said, I'll be back by morning with any luck. [a pause]

Just keep an eye on the crew while I'm gone. [after the entire fiasco with Aku? Those words hold a lot of weight today]

I will. [Chopper owes you one, because he won't be so antsy to leave the house now. Tonight, anyways.] Take care, Sanji-san. I'll see you tomorrow.
