We had a really nice weekend with
bittercupojoe and
creamnsugar, who came to visit for the weekend. Our first guests--yay! Yesterday, we celebrated our friend Dane's birthday by going to
Salt Lick BBQ, as per his wishes.
stinabat was able to join us, which was a real treat, as she's been incredibly busy with her novel and stories--the prices of success. The place is way out in the country, and we (I was with Joe and Karina) had problems finding it. On the way, we passed the
Barsana Dham Hindu temple. Going by it the third time, it was suggested that maybe we should stop and ask for directions. We all understood the inappropriateness of that at the same moment, and laughed ourselves silly. The food was pretty good, even though I passed on the ribs/brisket/sausage feast in favor of the turkey plate. (My diet wasn't derailed until dessert; the siren song of the blueberry cobbler was too strong to resist.) Afterward, we played
Betrayal at the House on the Hill, a horror game everyone is very fond of. We got to see
kentarre and that night too, which is always a pleasure. Fun!
After brunch at
Maudies, Joe and Karina headed back to Frisco. I went up north to buy the material for our chair coverings--almost done now!--then got ready for the cataloging class I'll be teaching starting tomorrow. The interface is really clunky, but I will prevail. I'm really looking forward to this--a chance to make a difference, to populate the earth with good catalogers. Who could resist?
