Title: Silver
Rating: K+
Genre: General

Walking through the aisles of the decorations store, Tifa paused when she glanced at the anniversary supplies. She and a certain blond swordsman were only married for two years, but she couldn’t stop herself from stopping to look. Her lithe fingers ran over the silver banners and streamers. Silver. Twenty-five years.

Her mind subconsciously drifted away, forcing her to imagine a future where she and Cloud were married for twenty-years. Denzel and Marlene would no doubt be grown, done with college, working a job, and perhaps married with a family.

Yes, she decided. Marlene was too pure-hearted to not have a family. She would find a good man, one who met both Cloud’s and Barret’s requirements, and marry young. They would have children and Marlene would be the working woman, her husband a stay-at-home dad. Mm… Two kids. Yes, that was perfect for Marlene. One boy and one girl. The boy was older, already in college. The girl would be a teenager, still in high school.

Denzel… She could see him having a small family. Maybe one child. He would have followed in Cloud’s footsteps and learned how to wield a sword. He’d protect his family and work hard to support them. Tifa couldn’t help but imagine Denzel’s best friend, Nia, as his wife. She always thought they’d clicked as more than friends, but maybe it was just her imagination.

She had no idea where Shelke would be, but even if the girl never found a cure for her halted aging, Tifa knew she’d never give up. She would probably be working for the WRO while searching for her sister in the lost Shera. Tifa could still see her coming to visit, if not living there still. The ex-Tsviet had a pure heart and she’d make a strong role-model for the younger kids.

Cloud, well, Cloud was Cloud. He’d never change. Always the stoic and silent guardian of their family. He’d been a wonderful husband and father so far and she didn’t foresee that changing anytime soon. They would have kids, of course. Three on top of Denzel and Marlene. Three biological and two adopted. That seemed a good amount. Two boys and a girl. Of course, one of the boys would be named Zack. She doubted Cloud would let that one go. Zack… Remira, and Sergei. Her mother’s and father’s names. No, Aerith Remira Strife. That’s better.

Zack would be on his final year of college, studying… something sciencey. Something that went against his namesake in every way. She gave a soft laugh at the would-be irony. Aerith would be nineteen, traveling the world while living with her parent’s old friends. She’d settle down in Wutai. Sergei would be a sophomore in high school, helping with neighborhood orphans after school.

Maybe they’d get a dog, too. A dachshund. No, she reasoned. Cloud could never tolerate a yippity little dog. Maybe a collie. Or a husky. They descended from wolves, so it would be appropriate to have one of those in the house. They could name him… What else? Fenrir.

She shook her head, just coming back to reality, her fingers resting on a pack of silver party plates. So many thoughts sparked from one small section of a store… Silver. A slow smile came to her face. She’d always liked silver, anyways. She’d have to get some silver tinsel for the holidays in the bar this year.

And talk to Cloud about getting a dog. And maybe little Zack.
