Ishmail messaged me yesterday over msn.
Apparently her neighbours had found a cockatiel in their backyard. It was all white with a bit of grey on the wings. It was really tame, and they brought inside into a cage with some water. They knew Ishmail really loved birds so they went over to ask if she wanted it. Unfortunately, she was sleeping at the time. By the time she found out about the bird and went to go pick it up, her neighbours said that the bird had died overnight.
When Ishmail first messaged me, she asked if Peewee had grey on her wings. I said a little bit. So when she told me this story my stomach and chest tightened up. There's no way to really confirm it was her, since I assume the neighbours had disposed of the bird before Ishmail got there. And it's weird how-- coincidental it is. That my bird would end up at my best friend's neighbour's house. But she doesn't live that far from me, it's not out of the question that Peewee would end up in that area.
I told this story to my mum over the phone. When I gave her the description of the bird, my mum said 'oh, well that wasn't her.'
Me: what-- the bird?
Mum: Yeah. Peewee didn't have any grey on her.
Me: She had a little grey on her wings and tail, didn't she?
Mum: No, Peewee was all white.
Me:... Are you sure?
Mum: I trimmed that bird myself and she'd open up her wings. She was all white.
I go back to Ishmail with this. Because Sirius is a mix of grey and lutino, it's possible I thought Peewee might have specks of grey on her too. But Ishmail says that when her dad said there was grey on the tail- the markings didn't sound natural. It's possible the 'grey' may have been dirt.
Now I don't know what to think.
peewee,
mum,
