been on my mind lately

Fun facts: A female character who is weak willed is not a "Mary Sue". A female character who is kind hearted and sweet is not a "Mary Sue". A female character who is well liked is not a "Mary Sue". Neither is one who is good looking, well endowed, ridden with past tragedies, contradictory, too successful, too unsuccessful, or any of these things.

I'm tired of people having disdain for characters, especially female ones, who aren't kicking ass everywhere. I'm sorry, but that isn't unrealistic or stupid. I love strong female characters, too, but um?

I rarely see the discussion of shallow characters similarly applied to male characters, though this also goes for them as well. "too nice" or "not daring enough" does not equate to "badly written". Neither does "sexy" or "high success rate".

I've got other news too, but I'll make a different post for that.
