Day 17 : Saw IV
Click to viewThis was *so* not anywhere on my list. Last night Netflix was being screwy, so I happened to see what was on TV. Not that there's much promising on basic cable at 2am, but beggars can't be choosy, right?
So I saw this and decided, even though I knew I wouldn't like it, I'd give the saw series a shot again. I've seen the first.. and immediately disliked it. How the hell does a DOCTOR not notice a non-dead body in the middle of the room for hours? And using his shirt at the end to saw off his foot instead of using it to grab the phone was just downright stupid. Cleolinda Jones did an amazing parody (that was just fucking brilliant) in Movies in Fifteen Minutes, which I cannot seem to find now.
can someone find it?
Anyway, I thought the first one was stupid. I buckled, however, and watched the second. I was not the least bit impressed. Because J LaRose, aka the Man With The Prettiest Hair, was in number three, I watched about ten minutes of that. It's not about "What would you do?" anymore. It's about gratuitous gore, which is something I have always despised in movies. I'm so not a gorehound, unlike a lot of horror fans. The Saw series is about "How many ways can we torture and kill someone?" Plain and simple. No story, no character development, just "let's see how creative we can get in our gorefest." BORING.
Number four was no different. I know this is a weak piece of the series anyway, but I'm not subjecting my brain to any more of this crap.
