Did you know...

...that a chapter in a book generally contains between 4,000 and 6,000 words? My chapters have an average of about 1,300 words. *sigh*

4000-6000 per chapter?? javatto November 12 2002, 14:09:34 UTC
may i ask where you came by that count?? i'm constantly wondering things like that, or how a single-spaced 1"-margined MS word doc's word count compares to the word count on a single page of a hardcover novel. i'd love some basis for comparison. thanks!

*blushes*
Ok, first, don't think I'm weird - I only wanted to know how my chapters compared to actual published books... I grabbed a Patricia McKillup book and a Robin McKinley book and a Mercedes Lackey book, counted the avg. words per page, averaged the pages per chapter, did some multiplication and came up with a low and a high average of words per chapter for the three books.

I think I need help.
