Title: The Hospital Series
Rating: G
Pairing: Taguchi Junnosuke/Aiba Masaki friendship.
Word Count: 429
Summary: A series of visits from one particular Arashi member while Junno's recovering.
Author's Notes: Pent up creativity, and I just needed to work on something fic-ish. I wrote this AGES ago but always thought it should be a full-fledged fic.

"I wasn't expecting you," Taguchi Junnosuke said a little sheepishly as he shifted, sitting up a little more in his hospital bed. A breathy chuckle was his initial answer as Aiba Masaki walked into the cold, sterile hospital room, a small stuffed dolphin in one hand and a small potted plant in the other.

"I get that a lot, believe it or not," Aiba said cheerily, stopping by Taguchi's bedside, handing over the stuffed toy and putting the plant by the window. "I didn't know what your favorite animal was, so I just went with what I thought represented you the most."

"Oh?" Taguchi said, poking a little at the stuffed toy now on his lap. "I'm a dolphin?"

At this, Aiba laughed outright as he sat down next to Taguchi's bed. "Well, maybe. I was actually in the middle of drawing a chart when Sho mentioned that I should hurry if I wanted to make it before visiting hours were over."

Taguchi smiled. "What was the chart of?"

"The similarities between you and an otter. It was perfect, but then Sho had to go and mention that no one sold stuffed otters, too." Aiba shook his head. "He ruins everything sometimes."

"But I bet it feels good when you can prove him wrong," Taguchi said, setting the toy on the bedstand next to his alarm clock.

Aiba's grin was infectious. "I knew I liked you for a reason!" He paused for a few seconds. "How are you feeling?"

At that, Taguchi just shrugged, stretching his arms over his head. "I'm doing good. As good as someone in the hospital can be."

Aiba nodded, but didn't seem to have anything else to say after that, so they spent the next few moments in an awkward silence until Aiba randomly blurted out, "I know this is probably really weird and strange, because we don't even know each other that well."

Taguchi looked at him, then gave his head a shake, a small smile on his face. "Well, I'm not going to lie and say that it's not weird," he said as he lifted a hand to gingerly finger a pristine green leaf hanging from the plant next to his bed. "But I'm not one to question the goodwill of others, either. Besides, a little company never hurt anybody, let alone someone who's already hurt."

They both exchanged small looks at that and started giggling at the same time, Aiba relaxing in his chair and Taguchi leaned back, letting his hands rest on his stomach, smiles on both their faces.
