Dreams and Tanz

One of those weekends where I felt tired in the morning, but then went out and had a good evening on both nights.

Saturday I went to see Specimen / Diary of Dreams. Turned in to an welcome but unexpected meeting with friends that I first met at DV8. I saw from the start of Lilygun's set, enjoying them and the double-headliners. Support band Cold in Berlin were good but didn't quite grab me. Diary of Dreams were amazing, and even more so considering that their normal drummer was stuck in France, and Cold In Berlin's drummer was being stand-in.

Refreshing to hear music without backing tapes, and no miming.

Sunday was Tanz Macabre. October's Tanz was on an unseasonally warm night, and had most of us up on deck chattering. December's was on a seasonally cold night and the deck saw only an occasional smoker, but with many of the regulars at the Belgian vampire ball the below-deck was pleasantly crowded without being overcrowded. But with everyone indoors it's much harder to talk. It will be interesting to see February’s Tanz, with the winter single-deck venue and the full set of regulars.

batpuss mentioned that my review of the previous Tanz sounded negative. It wasn't meant to be - I had a great night and think others did too. Just a bit of humour that a night called Tanz had lots of talking and little dancing.
