and i attended the
http://www.mblgtacc2008.org/ this year, and i came back with a better understanding, not only of the issues that the BLGTA community has to face daily, but with a better understanding of myself.
and i heard them speak
the great T.J Jourian, he was in TransGeneration, and his speech hit me to the core, and thus i now understand that i am not just a question mark, that what i have between my legs does not defy me. I have become once more, balanced with myself, balanced with my sexuality, and a sense of feeling complete is in me.
Angela Davis needs no introduction, she is the last great speakers of this nation. A political activist a woman and woman of color, she is a fighter of civil rights, humans rights and a pro-abolishing prisons. she is a woman that when she speaks the room stays hushed. I thank angela davis for once again igniting the spark of activism within me.
and let us not forget a young man that will never reach the pinnacle of his life. He will never be our next great speaker and he will never march along us for our equal rights.
the young man i am speaking about is Lawrence King. Lawrence was an openly gay 15 year old. just living his life regardless of anyone. Lawrence King the victim of a hate crime, was murdered in his school by another student. Lawrence was shot in the back of head while he was doing work at the school's library. Thus we have another life taken, but this one (and not to make all the others less important) but why is this type of hate still going on?
why must these prejudices exist?
why must this hate exist?
and we all want marriage equality, but why not fight for people's human rights, their right to express themselves, without having fear of being rediculed or worse.
let us not forget Lawrence King, who did nothing in this life but express who he really was, how he really felt. Let us make a vigil for Lawrence King, let us show him, where ever he may be, that he will not be forgotten, at least not by the GBLTAQ community.
let us do something.
for the greater good.
