Yes, I know I have to write 2x10 and 2x11...
That was an intense episode, wasn't it?
First of all I think I want to hit Merlin hard in the head for not confronting Morgana openly about the spell. Yes, he did protect her and not told Arthur about her magic but leaving her alone to be killed by the knight when she was clearly terrified was even more cold-blooded than the poisoning itself.
The poisoning was both beautifully done (great job Colin and Katie!) and so utterly heartbreaking (and not only because that's the very end of my het ship): I loved the way that Merlin admitted that yes, he had poisoned her, how she tried to stop him from touching her and then clang to him as he embraced her... *sniff*
From the last bit of dialogue between Merlin and Morgause I think that he realised that Morgana was being used without her knowing, but now Morgana is with Morgause and knows he was the one to poison her so I really hope that they have a chance to speak about this in the future (I'd prefer if they are not trying to kill each other).
Gaius stop saying Merlin that he did the right thing: he should question what he does if he wants to grow up. I like that it seems there's a bit of estrangement between them. I know they love each other, but Merlin needs to learn to think by himself.
And talking about thinking: I wonder what the Dragon's agenda is and why does he want Morgana dead. He lied to Merlin (again) saying that the Nazgûl were going to kill Arthur (maybe he wants to kill Uther himself?) and I think that was what convinced Merlin that there was no other way out that to poison her. Also, in the previous episode the dragon was all "she doesn't have an inch of power" and then she's suddenly able to keep the castle asleep? I think the dragon hates her for some reason (does he think she'll be his Eowyn?) because it seems like his lies were pretty focused on her and left Morgause completely out.
I loved Arthur in this episode, but in episodes like this I wish Merlin would tell him the truth of what's going on.
I loved Colin's acting in this one, it was full of small shades mainly in the parts when he had no dialogue.
Also, the first part of the ep had fun times (dragging the king around, suggesting to dress Uther as a woman... as you like to do, Merlin?, Gaius faces...)
Bonus points for keeping the dragon, Morgause and Morgana alive in this episode.
Question of the week: considering how many knights are killed daily in Camelot and that only noble men can be knights... do you think noblemen have lots of children or there are lots of noblemen?
