So I'm currently in the Bronx, getting snowed in.
I have a presentation at 9:00 Monday morning.
I might not make it back to school until then.
But surprisingly, I'm the calmest I've ever been...
And that, my friends, is due to one very special, very amazing man.
The mother f'in love of my life: BILLY JOEL!
That's right, tonight (after much debate and many tears),
I said, "FUCK YOU!" to PA school,
and braved this so-called "blizzard" we're having to make it to MSG...
for his 5th of 12 shows in NYC, on his last tour ever.
The city? I'm still in love.
The company? Erin's pretty much kick-ass.
The show? U N B E L I E V A B L E !
I don't remember the full set list...
nor do I remember everything that occurred between the hours of 8:00 and 11:00pm.
Not because I was drunk or high...
just absofuckinlutely in awe.
I'm talking Zanzibar-WeDidn'tStartTheFire-DowneasterAlexa-Extremes-YouMayBeRight-BigShot-Keepin'TheFaith-Allentown-Movin'Out-NewYorkStateOfMind-StormFront-CaptainJack-TheEntertainer-HighwayToHell-RiverOfDreams-She'sAlwaysAWomanToMe-It'sStillRockAndRollToMe-MyLife-EverybodyLovesYouNow-Miami2017.
And a whole bunch more that I know I'm forgetting...
He didn't play my all time favorite song ("Uptown Girl." duh.);
but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
Besides, he did end with "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant,"
and of course, "PIANO MAN!"
I was totally thinking of calling Julie when he played "Only The Good Die Young..."
but sadly, I still don't have her number in my new phone.
Bummer.
And even though it's not my favorite song by him,
the best performance of the night was definitely "Captain Jack."
But I guess it makes sense that any song that mentions both masturbation and getting high will get a huge rise out of a crowd?
GAH, I am just so blown away right now, I really don't know what to say...
No opening act.
Just him.
One on one.
For three full hours.
Definitely the best Valentine's Day gift I've ever bought for myself...
even better than that time I punched a hole in my nose.
I can't believe I thought about skipping it...
what the fuck was wrong with me?
Not only was the show amazing...
but I was also in direct view of the newly retired jersey of my other love, MARK MESSIER!
So basically, I saw my favoritest musician of ever, in my favoritest city of ever, with one of my favoritest people of ever, and it was as if I was in the presence of my favoritest athlete of ever.
I'm not gonna lie, I cried a little...
(P.S. it was #11 on February 11th...that's gotta be some kind of sign, right?)
Ok, I should get some sleep.
I'm thinking I'll walk into my presentation without a voice, wearing my Billy Joel t-shirt...
and in ten years, when I get kicked out of PA school and you see me homeless on the streets, don't feel bad.
Because I know now that I can die happy... :)
