Jokes
I have begun adding jokes to my tests in an attempt to make them slightly more enjoyable for kids. Actually, I usually pick lame-o jokes that are slightly related to school and then laugh when I see kids' reactions when they read them.
For example, the best homework excuse...
Teacher: Where's your homework?
Student: I lost it when I got in a fight with someone who wouldn't say you were the best teacher ever!
Yup. Funny to me, but officially lame. No one's actually used that excuse on me yet. I suppose I should be glad. It's probably not a good idea to go around giving kids excuses for not having their homework finished.
