Who says you can't go home? Episode 2, Season 2

Ah, the way they were.

But what’s as good as ever was Seth-Ryan time in the poolhouse, complete with Ben’s wry deadpan delivery of, “Yeah, we’re not going to school.”  Those two had such a rapport and rhythm, the only hint of Ben’s comedic abilities until we hit S4 and Taylor Townsend, such fun.  But anything was fun after S3-

Precious, too, is Ryan’s appeal to Summer, especially his reaction to the pink room and the offer of the satin ‘pouf’ as chair. Then Summer’s unwitting inclusion that Marissa had moved on, spurring Ryan’s unannounced visit and discovery of DJ.

I adored the Ryan/Summer scene, one of the things I love about the show is the character contrasts, Newport and Chino, rich and less well-off, geek and...not-geek *heh*. In this case it's the broodiness of Ryan entering the fluffy pink world of Summer that amused me so much! :D

Hope you don't mind if I post a few comments as well. I'm also a bit behind on the posting, if not just say the word and I'll delete :).

The Way We Were

Marissa, silly silly girl. As much as I love you, could you never do that whiney crying thing again? Dramatic crying just doesn’t suit the girl. Though her fling with DJ is an interesting one, even if the guy himself doesn’t tickle a lot of interest in me. Respect points soar for Ryan here for just judging the situation and backing away with little fuss, I definitely bat for Team Ryan here. Extra Ryan karma points for attempting to take the blame and bring back Sethummer. It’s always interesting to see scenes with characters who don’t normally interact, I’m a bit of a Ryan/Summer shipper myself so I love their scenes together, a dose of humour with just the right amount of cute. I also enjoy the rare chance to see a Sandy/Julie on screen together, they just have perfectly fitting chemistry.

I loved Summer’s very enthusiastic exclamations about DJ’s appearance, appropriate and not entirely inaccurate but hilarious! With all the Rarissa and Sethummer tensions I enjoyed the Marissa/Summer and Seth/Ryan scenes even more than normal, the friendships seem even stronger while the couples are falling apart. The comic book club scene was just pure hilarity, one of many things I love about Seth/Ryan, their characters are so different - Seth’s lively sarcasm with Ryan’s sober brooding just meld so well. Speaking of we finally meet the famous Zach…like pretty much everyone in The OC, gentle on the eyes but - not much there at the moment.

Summer’s view on Sethummer at that time, as well as being surprisingly insightful and accurate was really a revelation. He does only want what he can’t have, to be fair a lot of the time it’s what all of us are like but with a character like Seth it’s a lot more prominent.

Caleb- eh. His arc doesn’t interest me as much as… every other plot ever on The OC. I guess all these money issues don’t spark my interest as much.

Haley vanishes to Japan, my reaction would have been “poor Jimmy”, if he wasn’t so pathetic and need about the whole thing. Proposing to Haley like that just made my eyes roll… I mean c’mon, the guy’s in desperate need of a dose of dignity.

Sandy’s on edge - Sandy/Kirsten scenes never fail to make me go “Oh my god” or “Aw.” Loved their reconciliation near the end of the episode.

Hi again! *waves*

I haven't been posting all that long myself, but I think as long as you're generally on topic doing this here is fine....if I'm wrong I'm confident the more experienced LJ'ers will gently correct me. *smile*

But it would also be great to post it straight to ocitagain and more folk might see it. Or is the 'new kid on the block' feeling a bit shy? [argh, horrible pun, couldn't resist- *grin*]

Anyway, can't comment back more right now but wanted you to know I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts thoroughly. Byee for now.
